Friday evening at the green cloth – billiards, beer and best buddies

Friday evening, 8 p.m. I (20) cycle to the old pub "Zum grünen Tuch" (The Green Cloth). My three regular buddies are already there: Chris (36), Marco (34), and Tobi (35). All a bit older, all passionate pool players. We have our usual table in the back corner, dim lighting, jazz from the jukebox, beer and peanuts. The balls make a wonderful clacking sound as they roll. We laugh, tease each other, and celebrate every good shot with a handshake. Four guys, one table, one perfect evening – simply sociable, relaxed, and enjoyable.
Around 11 p.m., we're the last ones in the bar. The other guests have long since left, the owner turns the music down and lets us have another go. Chris leans low over the table for a difficult shot—his shirt is stretched across his broad back, the sleeves are rolled up, revealing his powerful forearms. Marco stands next to me, leaning slightly against my shoulder when he whispers something in my ear. Tobi laughs that deep, warm laugh and briefly places his hand on the back of my neck when I score a point. It's all still friendly… but the touches last a second longer than usual, and the air suddenly feels a little heavier.
The innkeeper locks up and leaves us the key – “you know your way around.” Suddenly it’s just the four of us, the lights are dim, and the pool lamps glow green above the table. Chris puts his arms around me from behind, showing me a shot “from pro to pro.” His chin rests on my shoulder, his breath brushes my ear. Marco stands in front of me, brushes a strand of hair from my forehead, and whispers, “You’re in a really good mood today…” Tobi dims the lights even more, sits on the edge of the table, and gently pulls me closer. The first kiss comes from him – slow, soft, tasting of beer and mint. Then Marco kisses me, then Chris. Three grown men, taking turns kissing me tenderly, while the balls lie still on the felt. My heart is racing.
